That distance raises questions about what it means to play, write, record and construct a work when composition, body and technology become interconnected.<\/p>\n<p>The Fish Factory residency offers a setting in which to explore this tension without resolving it in advance. The piano will be an instrument, acoustic material, physical object and starting point for recording, sound transformation and performance.<\/p>\n<p>The work may include composition, improvisation, recording techniques, sound design, electronics and experiments in translating musical ideas into performable experiences.<\/p>\n<p>The final form will remain deliberately open.
