Fracture

Fracture is an orchestral work composed in 2023 and recorded with FAMES Orchestra in Skopje, North Macedonia. It emerged during a period of profound personal and physical disorientation, while recovering from eye surgery and bringing a professional chapter to a close. The piece grew from that sense of rupture and the need to give musical form to what follows: the prolonged fall set in motion by the break.

Through a contemporary orchestral language, the work follows a path of increasing instability, density and tension, shaped as a descending, almost spiralling movement. The orchestra becomes an organism capable of distorting space, altering the perception of time and sustaining a sense of continuous falling.

The recording took place in Skopje just weeks after the composition, before visual recovery was complete. That proximity between experience and realisation is integral to the work: Fracture emerged almost within the crisis itself. The result is a piece about rupture, loss of balance and the transformation that can begin when familiar points of reference disappear.
